When should I arrive?
Plan on about an hour so you are in your seat before the music starts. If you are late, the hall seats you at the next pause. Some concerts have no late seating at all.
Can I leave and come back to my seat?
If you step out, you wait for a break in the music before you sit down again. The lobby monitors carry the performance while you are outside.
Are children allowed?
Most classical, jazz, chamber, and contemporary concerts do not admit children under 6. Family programs, including Symphonies for Youth and the Holiday Sing-Along, use their own age rules.
What can I bring inside?
Food and drinks stay out of the auditorium, except bottled water. Silence your phone, and do not record or photograph the performance.
Is there a dress code?
No. Wear what is comfortable. A ticket is required for every person, and you sit in the seat on that ticket.
Where do lost items go?
Coat check holds found items through the end of the concert. After that, Music Center security at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion takes them.

Designed by renowned architect Frank Gehry and completed in 2003, the hall is a stainless steel wonder with incredible acoustics in the Great Hall. The auditorium seats are designed with grapevine prints, and the hall itself looks like a giant sailing ship. This site is home to the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra, but the hall also offers other musical events throughout the year, including performances by the Los Angeles Master Choral and the American Youth Symphony. Guided tours with headphones are offered daily, but to see the main hall, you must purchase tickets for one of the performances.

Been here a couple of times but never found a concert we liked until today.
The first half of the chamber music program featured modern pieces, and the second half was dedicated to Beethoven.
It's interesting to note that they performed in the main hall (only half full), instead of the smaller one. The acoustic is gorgeous.
The venue is terrific, especially the outdoor garden.
They offered little wine prior to the start, and we chatted with a few female concertgoers. The first two ladies are friends, both widowed and living nearby. They suggested Vespiao for dinner. Then two separate females joined us, one Chinese, who said she's on the board of the Library, and confirmed the homeless people using the bathroom at the Central Library. She also insisted on talking to me in Mandarin.
... and the ride to the hotel afterward, the female Uber driver has classical music on -:) thank you!
